The author proposed the aluminum as a material of PHE for OTEC which was using ammonia as a working fluid, because it is light and high thermal conductivity. However, the aluminum has low corrosion resistance against ammonia. Then, the high ammonia resistance by the PEEK polymer coating of PHE plate is expected. In this study, tolerance experiments during three months were performed using aluminum block coated PEEK under pool nucleate boiling of ammonia, in order to clarify the corrosion resistance and heat transfer performance. As a result, the coating surface was changed dramatically and the boiling curve was also changed.
