The experimental results on flow boiling heat transfer of ammonia inside a horizontal spirally grooved steel with 12mm in the averaged inner diameter were presented. The length of the test tube is 3.5 m, and the ammonia flowing inside the tube was heated directly by alternating current. Experimental conditions were 40 to 80 kg/(m2s) in mass velocity, about 0.7 MPa in pressure, and 0 to 20 kW/m2 in heat flux. The measured pressure drop gradients, flow regimes and heat transfer coefficients were presented and discussed.
