Characteristic motifs have been identified in natural channel forming peptides though critical roles of such motifs are not well understood. In this paper, the helix-kink motif found in peptaibols was embedded into the a-aminoisobutyric acid (Aib) rich template to explore its roles in peptide structure and ion channel functions. According to circular dichroism studies and single channel measurements, the motif reduced helical contents of peptide whereas ion channel forming was facilitated and conductance value was increased.
