A cooperation system between seaweed growers is one of answers for solving these issues. The system, however, has not been popular in Kawasoe Town, at the northeastern corner of the Ariake Sea. Because the area near the Chikugo River is the best place for seaweed aquafarming. This purpose of this study is to clarify the process of seaweed growers in Kawasoe, which is the most famous town for seaweed growers, Saga Prefecture in Japan. Some of characteristics of seaweed growers settlements are also made clear by field surveys. Most of the growers are full-time and are concentrated together in groups in the settlements. Now the cooperation system between seaweed growers is penetrating among growers even in Kawasoe settlements.英語フィールド
