Traditional local heritage such as wooden houses is vulnerable to disasters. In Japan, the event probability that an earthquake occurs is high. Disaster prevention design of traditional town using spatial information for heritage is understanding in the field of disaster preservation study. We should preserve the historical town from the disasters, especially earthquake. It is basically important to create crucial information, especially on the current situation such as risk management of the area. However, we must consider specific facts here when we analysis disaster preservation design. This study area has many characteristics. We analysis the safety of temporary evacuation areas for disasters based on the probability of ruble flow and the probability of street blockade. Then we propose the location planning of temporary evacuation areas as disaster preservation design. Temporary evacuation areas are able to support dangerous evacuation routes, exchange to replace evacuation routes. Evacuation routes which are the historical atmosphere in this study area are very narrow. These are expanded by temporary evacuation areas. So we preserved the historical view and improve safety of evacuation. In this study, we explain about necessity and potential of temporary evacuation areas in case of directly earthquake. As a result, we found some ideas to secure evacuation routes from traditional houses to designated refuge places using temporary evacuation areas.
