概要:
Microbial fuel cells (MFCs) are promising devices that use bacteria as catalysts to oxidize organic matter and generate current. Because of their eminent merits of universality in various organic fuels, capability in treating wastewater, mild reaction conditions, and low cost, MFCs have attracted considerable interest in scientific research recently. We have developed MFCs by using mud obtained at sea side, which has been called as “mud microbial fuel cell (MMFC)” in our research group. The MMFC can not only generate current but also reduce the BOD value in the mud. In the present study, the effect of external resistance, pH and salt concentration on a bioelectricity power generation of the MMFC was investigated.
