In the present study, as a material of the reflector polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS) was used. The acoustic impedance of PDMS has the same order with that of water. In addition, the reflector has the shape of spheroid. According to the past experimental results, when expansion wave propagated from PDMS to water, it was clear that the accuracy of focusing became low due to the refraction depending on the difference of acoustic velocities. Therefore, we designed and manufactured the novel shape of the reflector in con-sideration of Snell’s law, and carried out the focusing tests. Additionally, in order to investigate the mechanical effect on living body by the irradiation of expansion wave, pseudo biological soft tissue was produced by polyvinyl alcohol (PVA). Expansion wave was irradiated to small bubble installed in pseudo biological soft tissue, and time-resolved variation of the diameter of the bubble was measured from visualization results.
