The coupled map traffic flow model based on optimal velocityfunctions, which is one of car-following models, enables us tointroduce various types of noise. We introduce a nose term in aheadway measurement process. Qualitative effects of noise are thesame as those in the case with noise in a velocity update process.Because the noise in the current case is imposed to the headwaymeasurement, the effect of the noise directly appears as vibrationswith high frequencies in time-sequences. The average densityincreases with the noise. This behavior comes from the shape of theoptimal velocity function.
