演習室などに設置される多数のWindows端末の安定運用は、大学の情報システム運用部門の大きな負担の一つである。安定運用のためには、容易に端末設定を一様にできることと、利用者による設定変更を防ぐ必要がある。その1つの方策として、端末をディスクレスとする方法がある。ディスクレス Windows端末で演習室を構成することによる、運用方法の変化および運用コストの低減などの利点を、佐賀大学学術情報処理センターに導入されたシステムに基づいて整理報告する。

An abstract：

One of the biggest service costs paid by computer centers in universities is for supporting Windows terminals in educational terminal rooms. For stable service, the system should enable us to keep the terminals with uniform configurations and prevent the configurations being changed by users. One of the solution is to construct a diskless terminal system. The computer and network center, Saga University, had introduced the diskless terminal system for education. We report the changes in operational methods of the system and the merit of the system for decreasing the operational cost in out system.
